You find yourself in a starry expanse beyond your own imagination. Although you are sure you fell into this place, above you there is no sign of sunlight, or any light at all. A starry wall in front of you suggests that you are in space; yet you are standing on solid ground, and you are breathing normally. This expanse obviously defies all laws of nature.
The only thing in the... the fissure that suggests that life may have once fallen down here as you have is a book.

The book is titled Myst. It looks old, older then any book you have ever seen. It's dark leather cover is speckled with flakes of gray and white, and it's black leather dog-eared corners prevent the leather cover from slipping. The binding of the book is also of the same material of the dog-eared corners. The title is branded onto the book in black lettering. The book is obviously old, for the leather, in some areas, is peeling of and weathering. Picking the book up, you realize it's heavier then it seemed at first glance. You slowly and cautiously open the cover, and the smell of musty leather and old, dusty paper overwhelms you.

The first characters in the book are not well known to you. In fact, you cannot read them at all. You look at the characters in awe. You've never seen such a beautiful text. But soon, you find that it is a waste of time leafing through the pages of the Myst book, for you cannot decipher this amazing language. As annoyance overcomes curiosity, you flip through the pages, scanning your eyes for any language you will understand. As the last page approaches, you see a dim light. You stop and then slowly lift the page.
On the left hand side is a blank page, yellowed with age. But on the right...
On the right hand page, a small box has seemed to be forged onto the page. You briefly stare, and then, believing your sensibilaty, blow the dust of the box to clear the illustration.
You are shocked with the clarity of the illustration. A dock is seen in the illustration. Slowly, you scan to the right to see the crows nest of a sunked ship.
But surely, this cannot be! The picture of the ship wasn't there before...! And yet, the illustration changes again, this time it scans to the left, back to the dock, and upwards to a large, gear shaped object. The picture is moving! It's as if you were staring through a window into a seperate world!
You gawk in awe as the picture scans over an island increasingly quickly. You now see a building with a rounded roof, and a building that looks like it should belong with the greek ruins. You scan over a rocketship, and a garden full of pillars. You pass beside a brick building nestled in a group of tall pinetrees, and then to cabin. Beside the cabin is a gigantic pine tree that, compared to the others, could be a hundred or more feet tall. Then, as you move to the left and to the end of the island, you see a clock resting a ways away from the shore. Soon, you find the picture resting back at the dock it started at.
You bring your hand up to the window unconsciously, and your fingers brush against it. Suddenly, you become aware of a tingling sensation on the surface of your palm, like an electrical current passed through you. You pull away from the window, but you find your hand drawn, attracted to the picture embalmed on the page. After a few moments, you feel a sickening lurch that starts in the depths of your stomach and reaches up towards your throat. You feel like you are being sucked into the page, or actually, as if the page had grown huge and had weaved yourself into the fibers of it's being. You feel a curious shifting sensation, as if you are being pushed together by so much force that you suddenly collapse upon yourself. After that feeling, it's as if you are rebuilt inside the
